When to Consider Nonsurgical Spinal Decompression

Spinal Decompression Therapy with DRX9000

We have been providing natural solutions for low back pain and sciatica in San Francisco for over 20 years now.  About 8 years ago we began to incorporate nonsurgical spinal decompression with the DRX9000 into our treatment protocols. The results have been outstanding.

Prior to spinal decompression we would have to refer out patients that did not respond to our treatment, which consisted of chiropractic adjustments, myofascial release, deep tissue laser, acupuncture, custom exercises, yoga, and traction. We also consulted our chronic back pain patients on plant based nutrition and meditation.

It sounds like a lot…but sometimes it just was not enough and we would need to refer out for surgical consultation and possible back surgery.

But that was pre-spinal decompression. We still have all the tools at our disposal that we used to have, but we also have the DRX9000 spinal decompression system.

Spinal decompression machines are designed and built to treat neurovascular compression syndromes such as herniated and bulging discs, degenerative disc disease, spinal stenosis, and facet syndrome, without drugs or surgery.

The machine is able to isolate of a specific spinal disc, say L5-S1 (the most commonly treated) and initiate healing. Spinal decompression seeks to enlarge the disc space, elongate the spine, stretch and strengthen the spinal muscles and ligaments, rehydrate the injured disc, and re-position the herniated disc fragments back where they belong and off the spinal cord and nerves. It sounds like a lot, but that’s how it works.

Does it work every time? NO…nothing does…just most of the time.

Even in the unlikely event  nonsurgical spinal decompression with the DRX9000 fails to deliver you are still left whole and can explore other treatment options. If you have spinal surgery and pieces of disc are cut away or the spine is fused, you are not left whole and may be disqualified from ever trying decompression therapy. This is why we recommend trying the DRX9000 first.

You should consider spinal decompression therapy if you have low back pain, sciatica, leg weakness, chronic back pain, hip pain, and have been diagnosed with a herniated or bulging disc (or other conditions listed above) that are not responding to conventional back pain treatments.

Sure, cortisone injections may make you feel better temporarily…but the long term effects can be deadly with repeated use. Spinal decompression addresses the cause and does it naturally. Those in the know, including medical doctors, physical therapist, and professional athletes are using spinal decompression as a tool to avoid surgery and stay healthy…and you can too.

Cervical Decompression with the DRX9000c

DRX9000c Cervical Decompression

We have been providing cervical decompression therapy in San Francisco for about 8 years now. We have been serving the SF Financial District for over 20 years. The spinal decompression machine we use is the DRX9000c.

The DRX9000c is designed and built to treat cervical neurovascular compression syndromes such as bulging discs, herniated discs, cervical stenosis, degenerative disc disease, and facet syndrome, nonsurgically.

The DRX9000c is set to the specific spinal disc level of the problem. For instance, if there is a disc herniation of the C6-7 disc then that is the disc we target. Decompression therapy enlarges the disc space, elongates the spine, strengthens the spinal muscles and ligaments, re-hydrates the injured cervical spinal disc, and pulls the herniated or bulging disc fragments back to the center of the disc and off the spinal cord and spinal nerves.

The decompression therapy is about 30 minutes. Then there is 10 minutes and muscle stimulation and ice. The muscle stimulation teaches the cervical muscles to work with the spine in it’s new position. The ice reduces inflammation and muscle spasms.

The protocol for cervical decompression with the DRX9000c is 20 sessions. These sessions are done over a 6 week period.

Some spinal decompression patients continue with ongoing maintenance and some just come in as needed when they feel they need it.

There is home care and exercises that decompression patients follow to obtain optimum results.

Success rates are high with cervical decompression at our San Francisco clinic. We try to only accept cases that we feel will achieve favorable outcomes.

Sometimes there is a little soreness in the beginning…but most patients are already sore. Otherwise, the treatment itself is very gentle and relaxing…it’s something you look forward to.

If you have been diagnosed with a cervical disc herniation or disc bulge, or any of the other conditions listed above, and would like to find out if you are a candidate for spinal decompression, you should find a doctor with a DRX9000c in your area.

If you live, work, or can travel to downtown San Francisco, then you can see us.

Spinal Decompression: Back Surgery without the Surgery

DRX9000 Lumbar Decompression Therapy

We have been providing treatment for bulging and herniated discs in San Francisco for over 20 years now. About 8 years ago we began to incorporate spinal decompression with the DRX9000 into our treatment protocols. Prior to this, we would have to refer out for surgical consultation if the patient did not respond to chiropractic care or physical therapy. There just was not a conservative “next step”…now there is.

Nonsurgical spinal decompression machines are designed and built to treat neurovascular compression syndromes such as herniated and bulging lumbar and cervical discs, without surgery. Spinal decompression therapy can also help conditions such as degenerative disc disease, facet syndrome, and spinal stenosis.

We like to say that spinal decompression is like back surgery without the surgery. The end result is the same…there is no more pressure or less pressure on the spinal nerve structures that are causing the back or neck pain.

Spinal decompression machines such as the DRX9000 are able to enlarge the disc space, elongate the spine, re-position the injured spinal disc (off the nerve and spinal cord), re-hydrate the disc, strengthen the spinal muscles and ligaments, and reduce pain levels.

Does the spinal decompression machine accomplish this every time?

NO…just most of the time. And there are varying levels of outcomes. Some get completely better, some a little better, and most just a lot better than they were.

Do spinal decompression results last?

YES…we have hundreds of patients that still maintain results achieved years ago…but they take care of their spines…and some do ongoing DRX care 4-6 times per year.

Here’s the deal…in my opinion (which is biased of course) you can always do surgery. Why not try spinal decompression first (if you qualify medically)? It’s safe. It’s gentle. And it’s effective. Maybe you don’t need surgery.

And here is something to consider. If you have a fusion surgery or rods or cement or anything permanent done to your spine…you will forever be disqualified from spinal decompression therapy. And that is scary.
